^^ that seems to be right, about Highland Shoe Co. making the RL loafers. It is a very nice shoe IRL, appeared very well made with some nice attention to detail, but it was the red color that made it appealing.
I thought Bass was already supposed to be doing an "American hand made" version of the Weejun this year sometime?
Not 'Bass' but A.N. Other exploiting the name along with them.
The Weejun is being (B)Ass fucked...
Go Vintage, young man!
Look at the soles of the venetians Big Tony posted. The circular wear signs at the ball of the foot suggest that someone's used these for spinning and dancing. Fantastic. Just an observation.
If I quote the post the picture won't enlarge, so scroll up and click it.
Love those.
The saddle is slightly ugly wich just adds to the aesthetic for me...
Awkward/Cool.
Ugly/Beautiful.
Alien/Familiar.
^ A good question.
I propose a thread where Tony waxes lyrical about the things he actually likes, rather than pointing out the faults in the tastes and buying habits of others.
We could all potentially learn a great deal.
I'm not rich.
What I want is decent RTW stuff, it does not have to be the ultimate product.
I guess, I have fairly low standards, but I do have standards...
sound...
you're the voice of reason, Big Tony!
enthusiasm has its merits, though...
I think Tony mixes reason with enthusiasm very well. He also adds a nice dash of objectivity to all we do.
- I'm often blind in my loves & hates and Tony always enters the dabate in a way which makes me think.
NSB is valued too - So maybe we need to make our talk more about (in this case) opinions on loafers and less about the people behind those opinions?
- That said, Alden LHS Suck Ass - Go Weejuns!
*Ahem*
It was a genuine invitation, not a weak attempt at character assassination.
What are these fora if they aren't the voice of enthusiasm?
As amusing as the snark thread over on the other side can sometimes be, this place comes to life when someone waxes lyrical about something. Debunking stupidity is not something that has to be constantly hammered home. We all appreciate that Tony is a smart guy and that the i-Gent class need the occasional slap down, but I'd love to see that sartorial intellect turned towards something positive again.
