^ hahahahahaha
There is a UK TV advert promoting milk with a supposedly cool drinker where his wallabees are shown prominently to evidence his understated coolness. A curious in joke. I like the look a lot and agree with the right length chinos they look great, but they cannot be too long.
--> the Wallabee was a shoe of choice of Late Ivy/early '70s crunchy hippies, you would see lots of ocbds and chambray shirts, straight cords and jeans, and Wallabees and Treks, the youngest brothers of the family, whose older brothers had been Weejun wearers, wearing the same ocbds but instead of khakis and penny loafers or desert boots and Ivy haircuts you'd see cords and Wallabees and Treks and long hair ....
semiotically Wallabees were about as stoned as a shoe could be ......
Film4 this morning 70s disaster classic 'Earthquake' and Charlton Heston's architect character Graff is in a pair of 'maple' Wallabees.

Special mention for Walter Matthau as the 'drunk in disco wear', Lorne Green in the biggest shirt collar ever and Richard Rowntree as stunt biker Miles ( black and yellow leather jumpsuit ).

/\ What do you suppose most wearers were stashing in that little hobbit pocket on these hippiest shoes of all time? I loved my old Treks from August 1975! I wish Clarks would go back to sand suede with matching heel strap instead of the darker leather they use, which turns the shoe two-tone in a way I don't dig ..... also, if Clarks were made in England and Ireland I would go full crunchy in them and I threaten to do so if my dream comes true .......

Give Clark's their due mind.... do any other shoes cross over into so many elements & styles of society?!?
