Marc,

When they clean ties for you do they press the edges?

Or are they very careful to leave the soft roll of a handmade tie?

Re: New Favorite Dry Cleaners

Marc,

Like you I rarely use a cleaner for ties. Actually, I have never used one in the USA, only overseas and then it was just small cleaning shops in Tokyo from time to time.

I talk to the owner of Tie crafters on the phone now and then and he is very friendly, but I have no direct experience of his tie cleaning. Although he sent me a bundle of coupons for a free tie cleaning a while back. I think I still have them if you would like one.

I have given a few coupons out in the past but never heard back about their cleaning.

Marc,

I just think Hallak's are too expensive. It's nothing personal.

How my post ended up above yours is anyone's guess

Re: New Favorite Dry Cleaners

There's a place near me that charges about $65 to clean a suit.  I reckon if you keep your suits for years and they're quality and clean them once a year or so, it ain't bad.  Esp. if they do it well.  The same place charges $6 per shirt.  I get formal shirts and a few nice ones done there.  But I've started to wash my own.  I've discovered I cannot iron to save my life.  So I've worn them unironed.  Not bad if it's an oxford cloth.  But if it's pinpoint or broadcloth, forget it.  Looks horrible.  But maybe tradly too.
