Hilarious. I was never into the so-called BritPop, but the singer of the late, great Auteurs tells a good story.
A piss-take and slag-fest throughout.
A nice a 3-2 natural shouldered jacket in one of the photos.
been meaning to read that for a while...
some vaguely relevant lyrics of his:
Junk shop clothes
Will get you nowhere
They’re out of season
It’s betrayal with no treason (?)
Junk shop clothes
Will get you...
There is a reason why
Your mother was a seamstress
Chaim Soutine never spent
A thrift shop dime
In this life
Lenny Bruce never walked
In a dead man’s shoes
Even for one night
Junk shop clothes
Will get you nowhere
No summer pavilion
No shooting season
Junk shop clothes
Will get you...
For the rest of your life
And the sun never shone
On your frame pale and wan
A great man and a great book. Love Haines and his work - one of the greatest living Englishmen IMHO. But I've always found that "Junk Shop Clothes" have got me everywhere rather than nowhere!
Staceyboy
Nowhere IS everywhere these days.
- No, sorry, I've even confused myself now. Are they open yet?

I'm loving listening to this shit again.
I went back and listened to some other britpop and think his critiques of those songs are good.
I have to say that I liked RadioHead when they first came to the US. But the other stuff, the Oasis, the Blur, all that shit if fluff, and I'm not even sure it was
good fluff.

I can even forgive the poncy hair flip and early crypto-Stones hair cut:

This sort of melodic-madness kills it. Unlike any of the just after bands who tried to do the same.
