Like that?
It's an option:

A blue university stripe button-down oxford. Mine is from Press. There are many available.
The only example on the press site is with "wine" stripes...blue is more versatile, I think, but you get the kind I mean
http://www.jpressonline.com/shirts_striped_detail.php?ix=3
Consider:
Goes with nearly any suit or jacket (except perhaps madras and grey or blue seersucker, though I think it could be done if you had a dark solid tie).
Formal enough for work. Informal enough for much play if worn with the right other items.
Goes with nearly any "Ivy" tie--knit, repp, foulard, polka dots, emblematics.
Can be worn without a tie.
Can be worn with khakis.
Can be worn with jeans.
Can be worn untucked hanging over shorts.
Bland enough to not scream (unlike butcher stripe) "HEY I'M WEARING A STRIPED SHIRT"
And yet, has the variety that a plain white or blue lacks. From a distance, hard to be sure of the color.

Just snagged an old Brooks Makers OCBD and am interested in comparing it to the current offerings. Hope it doesn't spoil me!
I have to size up to a 15" collar anyway and relegate the wee shirts to open neck use. I lined up a vintage Sero with a new white BB slim fit at the weekend and there's not much to commend one over the other - the Sero has those lovely quirky stitching details, the Brooks material is nicer.
Any one of the shirts off that fantastic h.i.s. ad from the early 60s. Or one of those Career Club tabs or OCBDs, again straight from the ads. No contemporary shirt is that magical. The last were those Troy Guilds from J.Simons in the late 80s - now they were very special. I bought about 4 and now have none. How did that happen?

Red, white and blue bleeding Madras half sleeve.
What size are you, GG?

White, blue, pink, yellow, stripe, check?
I'd be torn between plain white and my (notional) pale grey/white striped oxford.
As much as I like the idea of checks, with time I realise they (along with the 3BD, flap pocket, tie ensemble) are just too busy for a wee guy. But a blue micro-gingham is essential.
RS - I blush to confess to a 17 inch neck.... why, do you think you've ended up with one of my old TGs?? I had a blue tab, a blue/white university stripe BD, a blue pop-over and a yellow pop-over. I think about them at least once a week, like a lost love.

Everybody is bigger than me!
I'm a 15-33 - The year Cranmer became Archbishop and King Henry the Fat was cut adrift by the Pope -
I wear Chris_H's old shirts and the impulse for you to wear my old ones too was strong in me for a moment there.
There is nothing Gay about this.
17-35 : is this early Georgian? Nice period architecturally.
I'm not fat, just, ahem, big boned. I have dainty little feet and hands, but I'm Not Gay OK?
GG
Ahhhhh - you wear a Pluto:

Is that all that happened that year? I must either slim down or fatten up. I bet 18-35 is much more interesting - early industrial revolution, Palmerston, colonial exploits etc. Only problem is that then I'm well into 'Fat Yank' territory. Maybe that'll make me more Ivy?
GG
18-35?
A 'Whacker' according to the website. Good call.
A whacker....mmm, I like it. I spent much of my adolescence whacking one off. Sorry about that..
GG

The arms need to be just an inch longer for a textbook 18-36 'Crapper'.
Oh, the quality we have on here!
Ya can't whack it.
Brooks OCBD, regular fit, 16/34... but I couldn't decide between white, blue or the blue/white candy stripe... maybe a candy stripe, too, but just because they are so cool, not because they are the most versatile... I only wear them with solid color suits or sports jackets...
One shirt. One tie. Let's dress together and feel all right.
Did you drink some Jamaica Rum, AQG?
