All we need to do now is to button-down the deal with the shirtmaker.

Then you order & you tweak.

The maker is lined up & different to the last time. There will be a trial run and then we'll see.

Last I heard he was in the £35 - £40 bracket.

And the old idea of then seeing if they can do a Troy or a Gant or a Brooks is still floating around... As is finding a tailor with whom we can get old jackets copied & who will keep the classic Brooks patterns on file for foum members - A much tougher proposition.

Ah, mmmm, Sero BDs of the mid '60s had no back center collar button, and had a slighty wider collarband than Gant, thus slightly longer collar points and higher collar than Gant, no fruit loop on the center back box pleat, which was slightly wider than Gant. Gant had a third collar button. The Sero pocket should have a mitred (pointed) bottom and a corresponding V sewn upper pocket, triangularly sewn top pocket edge reinforcements. Top stitched yoke edges, no sleeve gauntlet button. Apologies if this has been reviewed before. Double-needle side and sleeve seams, about 18 stitches per inch, cheap plastic faux pearl buttons. Single needle top sewing about 3/4" in from the arm seams. Those specs were standard, models could have varied. 'scuse me grammer. You do know that the front placket is a separate sewn-on piece on a US shirt, unlike the continuous fabric - folded placket of a typical UK made shirt?

Will this have a Sero label? If so, has it been cleared legally? Copyrights expire in 50 years in the UK?, one hundred in the US? Some entity owns the name, surely.

(My first Sero BD was a deep wine University stripe in an Oxford cloth that was beefier than Gant's, or others, standard. Similar to the original Lands' End Hyde Park. Stripes aligned from yoke to sleeve and on the sleeve gauntlet. I think you'll find that now on few, if any, RTW and not on some MTM and bespoke.)

It's happening!

The basic template will be the mid-80's 'The Purist' OCBD by Sero. Other Sero names & eras have different specs (The New Purist, Serox, etc), but as we don't have a 60's Sero to hand to cannibalise we are going with what we have. Forum members can then tweak the basic template as they see fit.
