Here's a really snazzy Norman Hilton tweed. Even has a whimsical lining. If it were an inch or two wider in the chest, it would be mine:

Looks close to Ollie's size.
Hopefully he can snag it. I've always wanted a Hilton.
Here's an interesting one, a Woolrich flannel but it has a Brooks Brothers label too. Seller says it's from the 1940s? What do you guys think of it?

the same seller has some interesting acrylic shawl knits and loop collars

Half inch too large where?
Is the throat latch a standard feature on NH tweeds? Seems like all the examples I've found have a functional throat latch. They're also removable and there's a place to store it inside the jacket.
I wouldn't mind if your "measurement" of me were a half an inch larger.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, but in any event, I'll put your name at the top of the spreadsheet.
Vintage Press tweed from the same seller as the N.Hilton

How cool would this look with a green needlecord or olive moleskin sack jacket...

That paragraph was a mess... typed on my iPad with the stupid auto-correct.
Look at modern Southwick; they'll distribute their own limited range of jackets to various retailers who stock different brands of menswear - places like Cable Car and smaller local storefronts where you might find the same articles on the racks. They'll also design specific items for specialty outfitters like The Andover Shop based on their house cut Douglas sack model. O'Connell's might purchase x-number of jacket lengths of a certain cloth and then have it tailored through Southwick for O'Connell's to their specs; perhaps requesting certain details like that throat latch if so desired. You can probably guess that these type of niche particulars were in fact, not so niche at all and much more frequent in the boom years when you'd find at least half a dozen shops in every town using the same manufacturers and generally catering to the same market, yet all trying to offer something unique and desirable. Whenever you come across a label that reads "Cricketeer for Joey's Campus Shop, Jazztown USA" it's the purchasers at said shop acting as style curators of sorts - shopping different tailors and makers cuts with different cloths from various fabric houses, ultimately creating something unique and marketable for their own brand. Even the university shops used different makers for different articles; a summer suit from Haspel or a warm weather tweed from Robert Hall; all to specifics. They weren't just subscribing to a wine of the month type of club where they'd get receive seasonal orders from the makers; there was actually someone who's job was to work with the tailoring houses, fabric houses, to relay specifics for designs to be used with different cloths and cuts, etc. Our collective dream job! I suspect that fashion played into some aspect of it as well; for instance, a trendy patterned lining that all of the shops wanted to get their hands on and use. You'll notice that this equestrian lining that's popped up a few times on the forum in recent week, is seen almost exclusively on country tweeds, probably from the same year. It must have been a popular order for fall/winter tweeds.
