True size is probably 40/42 Misrepresented as 45 by someone who has just run a tape round it and stated actual measurement of the garment.
A great looking Cricketeer herringbone sack for a good price, and in my size too... or so I thought at first, but upon closer inspection of the measurements given and after contacting the seller, I'd say it's closer to a size 40?

Yeah, I saw that baby too Woolster, but the 38s seems a bit off to me.
Wish they would stop taking pics with the fabric pulled tight on the mannequin too, looks bloody ridiculous!
Maybe a 39s Tom? Either way I agree I hate that pinning round the back. That price would be worth the punt anyway I think.
Have you managed to find a sack that you feel suits you yet, Tom?

Mad as hatters, the lot of them. What are they going to do, display them in a glass cabinet? I thought my Jack Purcell were expensive at sixty quid.
How high are you willing to go, jesmond. Those sneakers are you man!
Just found this really nice Gant Woolster shirt that doesn't fit me, so I put it up:

I really liked it, its a shame it didn't fit. But, luckily, I live in new haven and I pick alot so I always end up finding old gant stuff, its great.

@ Woolster - yeah, those prices are bonkers. I had actually seen the Gant polo myself but I had wondered if it was genuine vintage. Up till now I had never seen a *vintage* Gant polo with that kind of label on it, stating "Gant Shirtmakers". I thought that maybe it was a modern shirt from the Yale Coop Campus Store line. I guess you learn something new every day.
Yes, I thought so too at first, so I searched around a bit but I think they've only reissued button-downs for the yale co-op collection thus far. The polo looks like something from the preppy era, but could be 60s too… hard to tell without seeing it close. The white label gradually disappeared during the 70s, but maybe the Co-op kept it for a while longer, I dunno.
I think it's the hipster appeal of the Rugger range that has pushed up the prices of vintage Gant, although I have a feeling this one (maybe even both) ended up in the Bastin/Gant archives.
Hi, I just found these forums because I see that you are posting about a few of my listings!
I live in the New Haven area and I pick alot, and I do find Gant stuff all the time, since they were located in New Haven for such a long time. All of this stuff I find a local thrift stores, so I can say with a bit of confidence that whatever I put up is real. At least, I don't see why someone would just dump and donate this stuff after taking the time to fake it. I do come across yale-co op stuff all the time. I've even come across yale co-op stuff that was designed for various Yale-sponsered plays and performances (although, I haven't seen them in a while) and they were clearly designed by gant (same label and tailoring, but with hand written additions to the tag that name the actor that the garment was for and the production).

Hi, and welcome to Talk Ivy! I think I just bought a bleeding madras Van Heusen from you a few days ago!
Re: the Yale Co-op polo - I wasn't really doubting the authenticity of the shirt, as much as wondering about the vintage.. if it was 60s or later? Anyway, a really nice shirt and a great price you got for it. Did you sell it back to Gant??!!
Good stuff about the co-op sponsored plays... and that Woolster is absolutely amazing... was kinda hoping nobody would notice...![]()
Why not set up shop here? We're a good, albeit a strange bunch, and there would be none of that ebay hassle... I'm sure Jimmy would find you space up top.
Anyway have fun!
Space up top never a problem for one of our own !
Welcome! I always prefer set sale to ebay nowadays.
There's also the general for sale thread, too, if you don't want to start a special thread for your own stuff...

Easing into it may well be the best way. You have to be happy with the amount of responses you may have to deal with.
Good luck anyway !

And six days yet to go! This one might even top that $180 polo. Crazy days...

Them's 80's I thinks. Defo not 60's but perhaps late 70's?
This label on the heel was the norm pre that blue label...![]()
You can regularly pick up deadstock Skidgrips for a fairly low price still. If you still don't think the seller is an absolute moron, just read the description.
PS. That Woolster is beautiful! It looks exactly the same as the one I have in cut and the plaid is fairly similar too. Condition is far far better though. I think whoever wins that shirt is very lucky and if it really is your sort of thing bid away! The chances of seeing another are very slim. But if you do win it you'll not need another. Those Woolsters are absolutely bullet proof.... but ITCHY as hell! Welcome to the forum Dreadful.
Well, i`m gonna take your word for it, Liam. I WAS gonna make a bid, but now......
I just thought that they looked the closest resemblance i`ve seen, to date. (Though, admittedly, i haven`t seen that many).
I haven't looked lately, but you used to be able to pick up USA-made Converse pretty cheaply on Ebay. I think my green All-Stars were about £18. They're in excellent condition still (although I have to admit to getting more wear out of my grubby Jack Purcell). I really like those above, but, my God, I just couldn't think about paying that kind of money - any more, I'm afraid, than for a vintage popover. My thrifty habits die hard (even though I'm routinely told I spend too much).

Save your money for those 60's deadstock Van Doren that I'm sure are under some old dudes bed in Anaheim as we type Jesmond. They are close to the TC sneakers. I think the TC sneakers are perhaps too early for skidgrips though. I know people who have owned Skidgrips and they seem to hold up well to lots of wear. That high side wall/foxing made them great for clumsy skaters. Converse's quality has gone way down hill though since they sold out to Nike. Best looking for cheap vintage.... cheap being the key word here.
Faubus, you're right. Deadstock and good condition Converse are still popping up daily on ebay and etsy. Not at silly prices either, though £18 I think was a lucky find.

I know I'm a gobshite now... and I don't wanna begin an unnecessary discussion. But how would you know that Converse quality went down? This is just a myth, and I would critizise Nike for many rubbish they do - but I had tons of Chucks over for over 20 years, most of them between 1992 and 1998 (purchased in Vienna, Italy and the US), then again from 2005 - now (purchased here in Vienna). So I had both - old US made as well as Nike Indonesian made. And I can tell you, they are EXACTLY the same fit, material AND quality. They weren't better back then. They were always the same shit quality. I love them, but they never were good quality. Never.
