Not good.  Why not buy a Dainite soled shoe and save the loafers for dry days.

I have done the same to some of my shoes...but that was in order to extend my own life.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

I have just soled and heeled an old pair of USA Sebago beef-roll loafers, giving them a new lease of life so I don't see anything wrong in adding soles to a pair of shoes but I would never re-sole a new pair of shoes. I took a risk with the 'cobbler' I used but was pleasantly surprised at how good a job he did. For £22 I have a good pair of shoes that should last for a few more years.

Getting shoes resoled and heeled to match original specifications is 1 thing - but in the above instance he's vandalised them.

With the amount of pavement pounding I do, most of my shoes get resoled and heeled on a regular basis. I went to combination heels then rubber heels for a while because I was told they last longer, but the best solution for me (I think) has proved to be leather soles and heels with Blakeys segs on the heels and at the front, to hinder wear to the leather. (If I lived in the US I could probably find an old cobbler with some triangular cleats similar to those Florsheim used to used, but so far Blakeys have worked fine.)

Of course if someone wants rubber soles or Dainite or whatever then I couldn't care less - unless I look at the result, which is not a pretty sight.

I love that sound. The v cleats and nails on old Florsheims make a similar sound that I also love. People know to get out of the way when you're walking down the street.

Exactly. It's actually a pretty dire film, but the shoes are great. And I found a holy grail pair of Florsheims recently - I will head to the appropriate thread to tell all.

Not so much an eBay heads up as opposed to one for London lads who may be in Covent Garden area. Saw this exact jacket in ROCKIT yesterday £15! Not quite as good nick but well decent for that price. Probably a 40/42 chest as it was just a bit too roomy for me hence my passing it up. Lapels seemed a little slimmer too but aside from that it is this jacket.
