These cost an absolute fortune in places like O'Connells.
Group think on here is more likely to favour a crappy Buffer coat I think.

Here is one for $2400

Here is another with lined lapels

Well, you must have seen your schoolmates on a daily basis.  So, point still stands.

Even factoring in the puttees, that's a steal.

^ Maybe, but the bogey man that kids were warned about was a rumpled figure in a Buffer coat offering sweets.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

My gran bought me one of those navy gabardine raincoats when I was about three. I was mortified even then.

Standard school uniform. I do not have a relative with a coat to sell in Galway either.

You can't say he hasn't done his research.

I dont mind the o connels one on the link its quality shines through. There is a guy that walks round our town in one similar. He also carries a stick he seems to have fashioned out of a small branch. Children and mothers take a wide birth round him. Saying that its a style very much reflected by Burberrys military styled collection from a few years back. Its not my look but it certainly is a statement piece. As for the duffer the lapels never look weighty another id rather a heavy fur collared Lakeland

I don't know.  The next thing you know, someone will accuse the entire board of group think just because we all have an interest in ivy style.

Yeah.  I'm just joking around.  Mostly.  You know I love long overcoats and raincoats, but I've never liked trenches, for myself.  Others are able to pull it off admirably, as long as there are no kids around and they are clothed underneath.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

As I say, wearing a trench in the 21st century takes guts. A single breasted mac would make my life easier, but I like the 40s/50s aesthetic of the trench - although I could do without the comments it attracts.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

I got mine vintage from the US, however I'm not sure how old it is. Maybe 80s or more recent - but the cut is pure old school flavour. It's a made in England Grenfell, by appointment to the Queen (although I've never seen her in one), with button in wool liner. Outer is all cotton.

Maybe now spring is flirting with the UK I'll break it out again, but even with liner it's too cold for winter for my tastes. I've been hired to kill someone next week, so I'll probably wear it then.
