Corduroy Suit
Anyone know where I can snag one?
J.Press does some great cord jackets but no matching trousers. Looking for a sack suit in olive or brown. J.Simons mentions them on their website--any idea what they cost? The exchange rate would probably be a killer.

There's something about corduroy suits that bugs me. They somehow seem a little too 1970s New York lefty-intelluctualish-lawyerish. Maybe it's unfair to saddle corduroy suits with that, but there it is.

I like cord jackets, I like cord trousers, but not a cord suit.
Just did myself an oxblood corduroy jacket for the fall.

Less than five bucks for a pair of imported English shoes in cordovan !
A cord suit usually goes with a goalpost moustache in my recollection.
Cord should not be worn except for trousers.

I agree with AQG about corduroy suits. I have that same sort of 70s association. When I think of corduroy suits, I think of the students in the movie/series Paper Chase set at Harvard law school in the 70s.
I do love corduroy pants and am eagerly awaiting some fall weather so I can break them out.

Fantastic - THAT's what it's all about. Ivy League style. Classic Traditional American style.
The comments about the 70's also surfaced in the 'Trad' dislike of Cord... Which shows how shallow their grasp of The Tradition is. I think for them if it's not in the OPH then they don't know about it. And more than that they don't want to know about it. Some tradition those 'Trads' have got. Where did Harris first come from? The "Go-Preppy" website!

I have two corduroy suits -- 3/2 Douglas by Southwick in chestnut and fern green. Narrow wale. I picked them up for next to nothing during one of Cable Car Clothiers massive sales (better than half off) a year or so ago.
It's very unusual to find Southwick corduroy jackets (and suits especially of course). Most of the options are by lesser makers because the cheapness of cotton corduroy. I wouldn't have paid full retail for mine but I love them.

Sorry to come over all High Street again guys but... Marks and Spencer do a lovely Deep Blue Cord jacket with 3 leather 'football' buttons and a rolling lapel. If you saw it in a store without the M&S labels you would all snap one up!

Sounds nice. A cord jacket is a fine thing for the winter as it's even warmer than tweed.
