Re: October's Ivy Options:

The Tweed cap, of course, and Tweed Sportscoats.... I would even wear a Tweed suit if I had one... and Corduroy.... lambswool and cashmere scarfs....and lots of Shetland sweaters...

I thought we could start hitting things month by month this year, just for a change...

No Norwegians before November!

For me it's layering time alright, but still only the (T)shirt/cotton(/cashmere ) sweater/light windcheater combos, so no woollen knitwear as yet let alone a tweed jacket. Corduroy just as appropriate as during early springtime really.

October ususally means that the shorts can polo shirts can finally be put away.

Poplin chinos exchanged for heavier twills.

A new lighter weight Golden Fleece flannel suit will likely make its debut this month.

Some tweeds coats will see their first action.

Re: October's Ivy Options:

I'm still finding Shetlands a bit too warm.

Lambswool feels about right, although I'm still wearing cotton knits too.

My Cords are out now - I live in 5 pockets for most of the year, but the 'proper' Cords are out now along with what I believe to be the Ivyest choice: The Cord Chino. Woolrich are good, so are Bean.

Still too early for flannel shirts where I am. Again, like the Norwegian knit, they're probably more of a November thing.

... Then Flannel Lined Khakis come along much later in the year.

Re: October's Ivy Options:

I got a tattersall patterned linen BD by Brooks recently... usually, it's an autumn thing, right?

However that shirt is a very light weight summer thing....

Re: October's Ivy Options:

I always think of it as Autumnal too. But you can wear the pattern all year round in different fabrics. Why not?

Re: October's Ivy Options:

The fun is that The Brooklyn Boy would fuck up all the details & transform those items.

Brooks tried to copy, & fucked up, Anglo style big time!

John Brooks, What a Fucking Twat - GOD BLESS HIM - Tries to copy Anglo, gets it all wrong, wrong, wrong & creates our beloved Ivy!

Ivy over-does all the details, piles it on thick for the colonials & creates a transfigured version of Anglo style. One with NO CLASS in the Anglo sense. Sorry, but that's true.

Ivy is fucked up Anglo, except when it's fucked up something else (like Italian), and the result is very American.

Think your LHS are posh? They're fucking slip-ons you Muppets!

... i luv all this.

Ivy is a rare and precious thing. Unique.

Enjoy!
