Hip Haircut Heroes

Come on, Talk Ivy!

I'm lazy this morning... and I don't have much time to do this!

I wanna see pictures!

We could also do a poll, if that's possible with forum software....

What are your haircut heroes?

Ivy League/ Modernist heroes, Jazz people and other musicians, Hollywood and French New Wave movie stars, politicians, celebrities, whatever...

I will start with some obvious choices and one or two less obvious ones, so here's my Top 10:

1. Steve McQueen (Love with the proper stranger, Bullitt, Thomas Crown Affair, and lots of other movies)

2. Gerry Mulligan

3. JFK

4. Paul Newman (The Hustler, Paris Blues, Sweet Bird Of Youth, Harper, Cool Hand Luke)

5. Montgomery Clift

6. Jean Paul Belmondo (in A Bout De Souffle)

7. Mose Allison (one of those cats who can get away with a moustache)

8. Marcello Mastroianni

9. Eric Clapton (Yardbirds era only)

10. Dustin Hoffmann (Graduate)

Re: Hip Haircut Heroes

It can also be random pics of non-famous people...

But most of all, it's about the stars...

I could have chosen a lot of other ones... Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis?

I forgot some black people, because you tend to think of those haircuts first, that you think you could get yourself, too... Although I have never tried "Monty" or "Marcello"...

Re: Hip Haircut Heroes

I'll try and sort out some good scans later on when I get home. My hair at the moment is a bit 'Monty' i.e. longish on top, side parting  - bit of a quiff I guess. Desperately needs a trim!

That's an early movie, his first one, right?

Ah, his first lead... put that movie also on my list... It's a great still!

As you mentioned it, I think I remember him in Rebel Without a Cause...

Re: Hip Haircut Heroes

quite timely thread.......want to trim my mane pretty extensively soon, but am truly clueless as to which way to go. Had long hair half my life, and think I'm over it now.
