I like Medeski, Martin and Wood, too.

But what does it have to do with Fitzgerald's tie? wink

^Medeski, Martin and Wood, pretty damn cool. They've just done an album with Sex Mob, haven't bought it yet.  My missis even likes them, I like that track Snake Anthony.

Re: Hemingway on Fitzgerald's tie

It seems all threads on this board come back to literature, cinema, or jazz. I just go with it.

Re: Hemingway on Fitzgerald's tie

Chinny-Chenners is a devout follower of the philosophy of Gets, a life sadly not enriched with West Coast jazz and the Bossa Nova of Stan Getz, but G.e.t.s "Good enough to steal".

His next cheap attempt at Pulitzer prize winning prose, will be tacky copy on the military, how the GI's coming home from WWII and Korea influenced Ivy.  We've successfully stoped him digging up Chet Baker and sprezzy again, so the military is his next choice.  The question we should ask ourselves now is, if we can successfully predict Chenners next move, why can't we do this type of thing with horses and at casinos? If we can answer that, we've cracked it.

Re: Hemingway on Fitzgerald's tie

As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I found Christian's post to be appropriately unoriginal and heavily cliched. ESPECIALLY the part about it being 'his old stomping grounds'.

Of course a wanna-be writer would spend his 'youth' in the neutered bohemia of 1990's North Beach... Only to return and visit the beat museum in tassled loafers. Yuppie asshole. YOU WANT TO DO A NORTH BEACH / JAZZ THING AND DON'T EVEN GIVE A MENTION TO THE COFFEE GALLERY OR THE JAZZ WORKSHOP -- THE BUILDING STANDING RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE BEAT MUSEUM.

What a joke. I am with all of you: Always Miles Davis, never Clifford Brown. I imagine Chris Chensvold to inhabit the side of the "Ivy" thing I hate: the complacency -- the totally milquetoast, soulless, bourgeoisie. The thousands of squares in colleges in 1962 that bought jazz for fucking bachelor pad music.
