Re: I believe

It was from a medical facility - a source was thrown in the smelt.  It was first found in Otis lift buttons, but has turned up all over the globe. I've had one safety relief valve manufacturer receive some seat internals contaminated. Everyone's uppity when you mention the radioactive contamination levels, its always below 1mSv/a.

There's a good Powerpoint presentation from a German government department on it. If you do a Google search you will come up with the offending foundries.

Materal test certs faked? Good heavens, from India, wot?

We digress.....where's this TMC fellow?

Re: I believe

Question:

Why do we get all this social class & political stuff shoved onto the clothing forums?

If the guys in question were any good then shouldn't they be on political forums elsewhere?

Could it be that their various opinions and debating skills just aren't good enough for those spaces & so they seek to colonise other subjects to spread their opinions?

The above is not really about Tom but the whole BS nature of people's various agendas on the menswear forums out there.

'Gentlemen' this & 'Gentleman' that.

The curse of the iGent!

Re: I believe

True.

But some can go too far in trying to hijack the subject with their own agendas.

Clothes usually have multiple meanings.

Re: I believe

Well, it was old Tommy boy who started it.  We only went along for the ride, but by then it was too late, by the time I realised he had raised the jolly roger it was too late, I had already reindustrialised the Clyde and was bulding iron clads in my bath and sending children down the pit in search of uranium.

Re: I believe

You're fine. I had a go too. Not much to do with clothes though.

The horrible question sooner or later is who cares what people believe?

Re: I believe

At this point in the conversation, I should probably simply stop, lest this whole thread degenerate into hot air.  But entirely aside from Israel/Palestine issues, in my view, there is the conflict between the largely secular, post-Christian West and political Islam, a conflict that isn't going away, even if the West were to withdraw its support for Israel entirely.

Re: I believe

Rather agree there, Bulldog.  We could pull our support from Israel tomorrow and US-Arab relations wouldn't change a jot.  Might even make the Arabs bolder.  Picking fights with the US gives secondary or tertiary powers clout internally and externally.  Why else do we have these squablings with North Korea and that joker Chavez.  It's pure posturing wrapped up in the tired rhetoric of anti-colonialism that gains status for the speaker.  As the biggest game going, we cannot avoid being on the recieving end.

So, Bulldog, you seem to have a somewhat conservative theoretical bent where foreign policy is concerned.  You a Fukuyama man, Huntingtonian or a votary of Niall Ferguson?

I love the smell of American hegemony in the morning.
