Pockets on dinner suit

Hello all,

I'm having a new DB dinner suit made, and the tailor (a man of tip-top standing in his community) has suggested using the facings silk for the openings in the besom pockets.  This strikes me as a little flash, but I thought I would get some other opinions.  Any thoughts?

In considering this, I also note that in the event that the facings ever need to be replaced in the future (which I have done on previous coats), they are unlikely to match the original silks.

WHy are they flash? I consider them a traditional trim and a strengthener. But Id like to hear why they might be considered flash.

Mine and all the bespoke jackets I've paid attention to use matching silk facings on the pockets. It's 1/4" of silk for the two parts around the pocket.

Thanks for the replies.  My fears of "flash" were articulated by Horace, but now I feel I can venture forth fearlessly into besom madness!
