Probably the most famous American copy of the 'English' style?

Only pulling your dear old plonker.
Style Wars could be a new strand here.
Best,
I got out of bed the wrong side today.
I agree with your point about Alden's grain calf shoes. This finish is produced by heat pressing and is generally done to lower grade hides to hide defects. Whichever suppliers Alden uses to get this material do not seem to produce as convincing a finish as other manufacturers.
^And the moment of serendipity and synergy.
NSB is right, in my considered opinion, American and English shoes are a different aesthethic experience. As of yesterday, my first Alden cordovans arrived. Today I wore the traditional saddle oxford to work, and the feel and look is radically different than, as an example, C&J.
Firstly, I have no quality concerns with the Aldens, I see this a lot on forums, but they are equal in workmanship to C&J's.
They look aesthetically more pleasing than C&J's. They are chunky, shiny and sturdy kick-ass shoes. Approved and endorsed for missions behind enemy lines.
They are ergonomically superior to C&J, they fit slightly more fitting, whereas C&J (now) are like bin bags.
All in all, Alden beat C&J.
Are NSB and Weejun ever seen in the same room at the same time?
There could be a Mr Hyde and Dr Jekyll thing going on there, now you mention it...
Does anyone else see triples of their posts or is it just yesterday's Lagavulin?
