Re: 'Going Ivy' II - The Hair!

An old barber of mine used to refer to a square-cut back as a 'Boston'. Is this common parlance?

For what it's worth the back of my head is always cut with a natural fade: can't stand that square back.

- To add context, the chap I mention above was from Stockport.

Bostin!   -  I bet that's what he was saying.

He also used to say 'Giz a Deck' instead of 'Please may I have a look?'

I wonder what he's doing now...

Re: 'Going Ivy' II - The Hair!

In this neck of the woods, barbers ask, "do you want the back tapered, or boxed?"

Back in recent threads, there is a great shot of Gerry Mulligan in a Roman Cut, or some such. Found a barber a couple of years ago that could cut this line and it is short, neat, & doesn't blow in the breeze. Hasn't helped with my sax playing, but you can't have everything.

For some reason, most barbers here can't cut the line to get the part out, and thus, I've never seen another here.
