Re: JFK and Saville Row

I thought he was a Chipp man?  I suppose it would not have precluded him from also patronizing the Row.

I don't know, but I'd also suspect A&S.

Re: JFK and Saville Row

According to 'Hatless Jack' Kennedy had suits made by the firm of John Morgan including a dark gray pinstripe for the inauguration.

It got bad publicity though because it was seen as not supporting the American clothing industry and John Morgan 'ended up dressing not John F Kennedy on his inauguration day, but the waxwork Kennedy at Madame Tussaud's museum in London'.Kennedy stopped wearing British suits entirely.

Even LBJ had British suits though from Carr, Son & Woor on Savile Row.

Re: JFK and Saville Row

For a rich Yank wanting a soft shoulder in London back then I'd still say A&S.

... But to be honest, back then he could have got one from more than a few places at various degrees of cost & quality.

Didn't Chris_H have a Polish guy up in North London back then who could cut?

If Jack ever went to Austin's then I'd be interested.

Re: JFK and Saville Row

^^ And wouldn't that be interesting?

... I shall write a play where Jack gets hammered down the Coach & Horses & has to get kitted up in Austin's because he's knackered all his togs rucking with some geezers down Berwick Street Market...

Later he'll get spiked down The Scene and father a child with PP Arnold...

Even better - Jack The Hat and JFK try to dodge Ronnie & Reggie.   I'm seeing a computer game, a film, the works.
