Haven't posted for ages but felt moved to compliment the guys at Oi Polloi on recent stock. In the last few weeks I have bought a pair of these:

and one of these
http://www.albamclothing.com/product.aspx?productid=245 (which seem to be out of stock already at Oi Polloi)
They also have these, which come in a loden green colour as well:

All very pricey, but great quality.
Nice taste, Sir!
Oi are ones to watch.
Thought I had enough shoes but those snuff Sanders are very tempting.
Whahey, he's back!
Great shoes brother W... now I am temped as well. It would be a shame to wear my old low top snuffs into the ground, so I guess I need these. Proper nice.
Aaw shucks guys...
Well, I thought I was cured - not from wearing the stuff but at least from buying tons MORE clothes and shoes and trawling the 'Bay for hours on end.
NOT SO...
Been lurking here again for a while now.
Lurking is looking, looking is needing, needing is buying, buying is realising that the vintage seller on US eBay sized up that fantastic jacket completely wrong, and selling is time consuming and eats into the credit cards ... and so it goes...

So Weejun. When it comes to chukkas. In your experience, do I get the George Cox or the Sanders?
Welcome back!
Thanks Hank. Missed you too me old sausage...
Cheers Hank.
Beatnik, I will definitely be picking up some Sanders chukkas. Going to see if I can pop into the factory tomorrow. Whether they'll let me in and sell me some remains to be seen.
Don't get me wrong the Cox's is also a good look but the quality is not comparable. Sanders are no Trickers or Crockett but they are nicely made and finished and good value for the price.
If you want an excellent pair of wider toes then well worth buying the original playboys made in spain version available in Sweden and Norway. £220 is not cheap but they are gorgeous. And made in spain when done properly, really is 'done properly'
Seeing as the original 'originals' haven't existed now for 40 odd years (Hutton Playboys Made for Dolcis - someone here has a pair the lucky sod and he knows who he is) then it's just a matter of taste and wallet...
BTW, have been wearing these around the house and they've already softened up nicely. I was only 80% happy first out the box, but now feeling it full on as some might say.
Yeah the Sanders definitely need to be broken in.
Good choice on the laces by the way Weejun - details, details eh? That goes for form as well as function. My navy pair of rebranded Sanders ("Davanzati") had those slippery nylon ones, the bastards kept coming undone.
I was looking to see if I could find any of those online but only purple size 12s seem to be left.
If I am admitted (certainly the correct word there!) to Sanders inner sanctum tomorrow I will enquire about other colours and styles.
Although I was AWOL for many months the shoe project has been going on slowly behind the scenes although without my full input, and we did get hold of the patterns and the cutter from the Eaton Clubman and Hutton days but so far no samples seem to have been delivered on those. I must chase it up.
I am going to ask John Rushton if he's interested in ordering some playboys from John Spencer in Spain. The boss there used to be boss at Tecnic / John Spencer who made my old Clarks branded ones for Italy in the 80s, and they were spot on. He'd sell a good few pairs via this forum methinks.
I saw John just before Christmas...
I was dressed differently and so the memory of the guy with the shirt for The Weejun had drifted away from him...
But he remains a lovable Cat.
Welcome back. Your contributions were sorely missed.
Here Here. I couldn't agree more
Thanks SS and Ra!
Tim, those Clarks are quite late 60s vibe - could imagine them in 66 in corduroy. Once they get property beaten up and the crepe shows it's true nature post another pic...
Anyone have any experience/opinion on the 1966 Lee 101z's they sell?
Oi Polloi have Clarks Desert Khans in stock at the moment, sand or dark brown
The Clarks site has got some great bargains at the moment, especially on wallabees. Down to half price...
