Anderson & Sheppard dissected

Very damning!

I note that one commentator was so moved as to express his unmitigated gall.  Serious business, indeed.

Re: Anderson & Sheppard dissected

I particularly like the update in the post which shows the difference between a tailor and a forumite. There are a series of defences raised for the suit by a poster which are disposed of with politeness and unerring accuracy.

There is a follow up from the same poster with a quote from a book by John Kent to the effect that he does not micro-manage his coat makers (which is true). It then goes on to say that that "He does not tell them how to make the coat and the type of canvas and inner materials" which is incorrect since the cutter, who is John Kent in this case, cuts and provides those as part of the bundle that is given to the tailor to make up. Even if you didn't know this a moments thought should tell you since the canvas is fundamental to the style of the garment.

According to their website, they can build a suit with a pocket for chopsticks.

Re: Anderson & Sheppard dissected

The LL post on "3 tailors, 3 very different suits" (or something to that extent) has definitely immunized me against A&S.

Re: Anderson & Sheppard dissected

Talking of A&S, I was not impressed by the suit that Andre Yew is wearing on this thread - http://www.thelondonlounge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7318&start=15#wrap. The waist and back look awful to my eyes but am I being unfair? Alden says it looks "neat" but it looks as if there is too much cloth, especially below the scye.

Re: Anderson & Sheppard dissected

I am beginning to wonder if we are only seeing the bad suits being posted on the interweb. A&S must have hundreds of customers, and Mahon scores. Do they do such bad work for all of these customers?

Or do they produce generally acceptable suits for their normal clients, but fall down only when confronted with the typically malformed iGent physique?

Or do they only do one or two suits for each customer, many of whom never return?
