Contrary to lies of FNB and Woofboxer, I (and most of the other "Buff Bastards") have been banned from posting on this forum. There are only a few posters left so don't waste your time on here. This forum is dead and nobody cares.

^ 'A History of the World in 100 Objects' That is very good Radio 4 programme for Londoners.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/programme

It enables me to pop in to the British Museum on a specific mission and come away in an hour or so without cultural indigestion. Guides will give you a floor plan, so you can go straight to the exhibit you wish to see.

No need to go from your Assyrians, to your Babylonians, to your Greeks. In and out quickly. Sorted.

Nothing to do with any of the above mentioned historians though.

Statues from Easter Island are next on my list.

I always thought thaqt A L Rowse could not be beaten fror curmudgeonliness and, I am sure that, in relation to the Tudors, he'd have had the ill-humoured and ill-mannered amorphous runt for breakfast. I have seen one of Sharkey's programmes: struck me as a tendentious and  patronizing little tit.

Starkey is rather fun and speaks in proper sentences, which I respect a lot, his books are conversely rather light, he does play the public relations game as good as anyone and if someone is stupid enough to pay him a mint then bully for him, I posted that photo of Starkey's suit because he looks like a stuffed sausage in it, and his other suits are not much better, proof that Savile Row can't do miracles

Ferguson I can do without as he has only one setting: yeah capitalism! he probably masturbates to photos of Milton Friedman

Ferguson had a series on the telly too. I think it was about The British Empire.

There is Hobsbawm as well for a Marxist viewpoint.

Re: Anderson & Sheppard dissected

I get annoyed by talking heads to claim that "I've figured out how the world works"
of course they haven't but it doesn't stop them droning on in public or on telly

any comments on Starkey's suits? definitely some drape in the double breasted

Re: Anderson & Sheppard dissected

I cannot help my sense of schadenfreude. Manton finally admits what all the "h8ters" told him.

http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.php?p=3761085&postcount=987

"I would be shocked if any tailor offered to do that.

"Honestly, I would be happy if they just corrected the sleeves even if it threw off the pattern a little. And also if they let out the waist a touch. If they raised the fronts a hair to address the balance problem, I would be ecstatic.

"And I would order more.

"As it is, in the relationship's present dispensation, I can't see ordering more."

Then he reveals more - http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.php?p=3761296&postcount=1005

"There was no way. The illustrious RJman was there and he seconds my assessment."

I would have loved to been there if only to punch that smug clown's face in.

And it gets even worse - http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.php?p=3777773&postcount=1078

"It is way tight. It's soft enough so that it's comfortable -- I had it on most of the day -- but it's far tighter than just about everything else I own. I never expected that A&S would make the tightest coat in my closet."

So A&S can't even get the basics right.

"I'm wearing an A&S coat today, nice and roomy, it's the one most of you guys can't stand."

Cos its typical A&S crap that does not fit.
