Yes, you are extremely knowledgable and obviously love the subject, but you are not the forum's dad.
Russell is still in charge as far as I know, but even he can't chastise us all as if we were a rowdy class of naughty children.
People come on this forum for many different reasons and if some choose to lark about and act the goat that's really up to them.

I'm really not having a go here or trying to pick a fight. (old man) I really respect your dedication and expertise, but you must also respect my foolishness and stupidity.
I love a lot of the more 'serious' threads discussed on this forum, but I also enjoy letting off a bit of steam on it too.
If people don't like the craziness they don't have read it or respond to it. I'm not keen on some of the aspects of the forum myself, so I give them a wide berth. Maybe that's the answer...

.........just as talk ivy is a subforum of FNB, there should be a sub-sub forum for "talking nonsense about ivy" . linet could be the moderator, and it would focus on the contributions that gay brazilians, ice-cream vendors, mince pies, the phillips-head hardware at john simons' store, et al have made to the international development of The Look.

On a related note: I think there were a lot of outstanding contributions over the last couple of weeks... so give yourselves a pat on the back for that. I'm fine with the odd trash-talk here and there, as long as interesting stuff keeps coming...and it sure is, at least for me.

I agree Eris. I think there is a good balance here.
Yes, it often gets a bit crazy, but it very often gets very dull. Generally, I think it's a good mix and easy for new people to drop into. As we have seen recently with quite a few new posters (and I don't mean ficticious gay stalkers or screaming brazilian ice cream vendors).
If this forum was all about ironing your pleats it would be a very dull place to hang out.

By the way, I wasn't having a go at Weejun in anyway. I think the guy's great and value his knowledge.

I'd like to take the opportunity to express my happiness about the fact that both Chris_H and Jesmond are posting again. I like to think that our shared interest and enthusiasm for the TNSIL style will always be able to conquer all the minor disturbances arising from time to time.
