haven't seen these posted here yet:

I'd be very interested to see them up close. The price is pretty steep, beyond my means, but they look really good.
sorry chaps but I just don't rate these at all. J.Crew have negated all the beauty of a proper USA Weejun by lining it and giving it the leather trim around the sides and the line of stitching around the top of the vamp. They have I'm afraid poncified it. I also don't associate Weejuns with the beefroll. Plain penny please. God what a waste and nearly 300 bucks too! Ha! Why can't they make basic $200 Weejuns in Wilton, Maine they way they used to? Greedy shareholders? Another bad management decision? The modern Weejun has lost all of its magic. It's a crying shame. Just don't get me started on Brooks Brothers...
I bet they spent ages trying to make them look Italian.
I have no problem with the beefroll, but the lining is a deal breaker. I don't understand why it is so difficult to make the basic unlined Weejun in the oxblood leather. They still make a nice style of shoe in the heinous plastic. I think I've made it clear I have no problem with these companies trying to jump on this bandwagon if it produces good merchandise, but why is most of this shit so overdesigned. It's a travesty. I'm waiting to see what Mcnairy's look like up close, but I am just about ready to pull the trigger on the Paul Stuart Cordovan weejun style loafer. It seems it's the only way I am going to ever get a quality "weejun".
Those Stuart 'Weejuns' are a real fetish of mine... I look, but can't afford to touch.
The Bass Beefroll? Not a patch on the Penny. If you want Beef go Sebago, etc.
Brooks wasn't what it is now. If you liked Brooks then you liked Brooks. Today the place is far from what it was.
Today it's nothing special. Once it was.
... And don't get me started on J. Press!

The new Sebagos look crap too...
I don't look as much as I should but I am still searching on th 'bay. If you ever come across a 7 1/2 or hell even a 7. Medium or Wide, feel free to shoot me a PM. I wish I hadn't trashed all of the Weejuns I had growing up now, I've been the same shoe size since I was 14. I put shoes through hell as a kid. I will probably end up buying the Paul Stuart some time this year anyway, but that doesn't stop me from wanting a deadstock Weejun.
^ ^ ... Looks like somebody sneaked off the coach at Newport Pagnell...

Who would buy these? Of no use to man nor beast (especially not beast I suppose).
Is it true the Paul Stuart cordo pennies are made at the facility which produces Alden's Cape Cod collection? For what it's worth these are also lined but I have to agree with those who are of the opinion that they look nice. The lining would mean that they wouldn't age like the weejun's of old: the characteristic moulding to the shape of the wearer's toes would not occur in the same way for a start.
