I did not know yanks wore those crap ties too. I thought they basically stuck to stripes.
i remember it being a big deal when the stripes came "back".....along with the rest of the mass-market preppy thing following the excesses of 80s fashion. even remember it being written about in newspapers along the lines of "these are the new power ties"-i wanna say mid 90s. i wanted a repp/regimental tie for my 7th grade picture in 92 and remember my mom searching long and hard to find one.
by 1957 even the infants had buckle back 'ivy pants'...
