Just been in to say my goodbyes to all at 2 Russell Street. John and Ken in there today. Shop virtually empty of stock. A very emotional day for many of us. Very strange seeing it like that. I guess the day had to come but I can't tell you what an effect it had on me. If anyone is near central London tomorrow say a last goodbye. Apart from meeting my partner and having kids J.Simons has been the biggest influence on my adult life so this is a big moment. John has lost out on the property he was after on Chiltern Street but he is still looking and wants to open again in central London, on a short term lease and at lower rents than Covent Garden ones. I feel that all UK Ivy enthusiasts should raise a glass to the old place tonight. Goodbye J.Simons.

I am there tomorrow.
If you see me...

All I want to do is to see John and to nod at him one more time.
Mr. Simons is the absolute Govenor of Ivy outside of the US - Inspired by Lou Austin in London, John surpassed him many times over.
In my opinion his only equal worldwide is Charlie Davidson.
Ivy-Style.com will pay $100 to anyone who captures a photo of Russell/Jim/frostmellor@gmail.com. Was he really deformed in a car accident? Explains a lot.
... I wish that stupid bitch Chens hadn't posted on this of all threads. Most out of place...
Hmm...I really feel like I've missed something now.
I do hope he/someone opens up shop somewhere else within the next year or two.
...Is Chinsvold serious? I will accept £100(pounds, not dollars...it wouldn't be worth it in dollars) to camp outside the shop from openning to snap our hero....
Any time I start to feel down... I just remember:
"Chensvold attended Cal State Fullerton on a fencing scholarship, where he was conference champion while studying English."
I tend not to whine like a girl online..
But what if I was actually deformed?

How hurtful it would be reminded of it in this way...
Christian is most unchristian!

Yes Kingstonian you're right. It's all horded away. The guy's made millions selling Barracutas to ex-skinheads. He's a typically cunning Jewish schmatter trader who's been ripping us all off for 45 years. We over romanticise him. It's all just business. Just clothes. It's all about margins and getting a good deal. He'll no doubt re-open in a swanky bit of London and start conning us all again with his typically knowing sales patter. Won't be missed. No loss. There's always the internet. Who needs old shops these days?
