Buckskins red and boatshoes white, Jimmy baby, that's all right!
Bass used to offer at least two grades of boat shoe. The more expensive variant with brass eyelets and welted construction were quite nice although the leather insock came unglued in both pairs I owned.
The grey-black camp sole is also an under-rated part of the story.
Bean have started offering their bluchers in the new Signature range with the old-style wedge camp sole as opposed to those of the recent past which have a defined heel. Made overseas and priced to fall apart in a couple of years but isn't that true to the spirit of the thing? Also seem to have the ridiculously long 'sport laces' of the original model.
The Quoddy version in chromexcel leather is a lovely thing but priced at more than three times the cost, but I understand they will replace the sole which will wear out in a tenth of the time of the uppers.
As an aside my last remaining pair of Walkover dirty bucks have sadly mildewed after storage in the cellar over the last very harsh winter. Bum.
Spotted these chukkas in the Bean Signature range.
