...and the rest of the McQueen admirers, thanks to Slim for sending me the link.

Great pics. My thanks to Slim too!
Lots of good stuff on 'Life', eh? It's nice that you can't just rip them off for free too... Why should people try to make money from other people's work with nothing in return?
All the signs of the classic style are there:
Photo 1 - Persol 714 folding
Photo 7 - Weejuns
Photo 10 - desert boots
Photo 11 - Baracuta G9 natural
Photo 12 - Original playboys
I wish I could find great slim chinos like those too...
Amazing how those elements are in style time and time again since 1963...
^ All elements of the "timeless" undercurrent. Jack Purcells too.
Question remains "what would Steve wear today?"
Good question.
I think today he would be wearing the g9 again, maybe the Persols and exploring (exploiting?) some of his own myth (spotted in NY wearing a Toys McCoys or Buzz Rickson replica with his name ans serial no on?), but he would most certainly have spent some years in a bearded western cowboy influence before being photographed by Bruce Weber circa 1985 with gelled hair and cod-vintage suits (no socks and wayfarers), and then like Paul Newman shown a predeliction for slightly dodgy sunglasses with too much metal and pink shade lenses.
OR,
He could be Mickey Rourke...
That doesn't bear thinking about.
all that nice vinyl lying on the floor! unprotected!
You can just make out the soles on the right foot being a different colour and suggesting normal crepe. Silhouette looks a bit different to the PBs which are heftier.
Could be PBs though...
I've said it before and I'll say it again: In terms of acting chops, personal style and general demeanor, Steve McQueen cannot hold a candle to Paul Newman, and I'll stand on Ali MacGraw's coffee table in my dirty bucks and say that to her face.
And it was asbestos that killed him, just like Malcolm McClaren. Of course, the similarity stops there.
