I am not sure the Trad forum is worth saving, although I applaud Coleman's efforts and have supported him. Most of good posters have left, some of whom post here.
AAAC Trads HAVE to do nothing, which is fortunate, as even the newest posters are well-qualified.
I think "Traditionalist" is a fine term as it has a canonical feel with room for improvisation after a person has figured out the basics, which used to just mean coming up with decent outfits but now apparently must expressly include a "shave and a wash" as James Russell Street, Trdtnlst, so nicely put it recently.
For my part, I simply wish everyone over yonder would get back to discussing clothes. I can't keep up with all the things going on in the clothing world and it's handy to have a group that can make a collective effort to have a lot of useful stuff posted about clothes I like, the classic American stuff, the traditionalist stuff.
Everything else, the "lifestyle" stuff, is just the personal hangover of mass marketing and best avoided.
While I do wish Coleman and any other free thinkers well in reforming Trad, I expect them to only be partially successful. The problem I see with turning the Trad forum into a Traditional American Style forum is that much of what attracts many to Trad is not part of Traditional American Style. Take away the lifestyle and Preppy nonsense and you've taken away the fantasy aspect that the iGent holds so dear. I don't see them going along with it. It's too emotional for them. I think many of these people are a lost cause. Regardless of any educational efforts, I see there being a perpetual divide in that forum between the cultish Trads and those who are willing to embrace Traditional American Style.

It is fun that Traditionalists aren't 'Trad', isn't it?
