Re: MWC field watches

Many thanks.

In a world of Rolexes, & even more fake Rolexes & Rolex-A-Likes, the Field Watch makes a nice statement IMO.

Re: MWC field watches

The problem with Rolex, is that the fakes are indistinguishable from the real McCoy unless you get up real close.

The MWC's 1962 GG-W-113 reedition looks interesting.

^That's the top one you posted, that looks the best in their range. I could be tempted to buy that.

Re: MWC field watches

Yes brother it is.
the middle one is a g10 infantry, and the bottom one is a re-rub of a us vietnam era watch.which is pretty cheap price wise.
there are some nice diving watches too.
might pick up the top one too. best...

Re: MWC field watches

I work as a freight pilot and have used MWC for the past 10 years and they have always proven pretty good. The Self Luminous MWC G10 is an ace bit of kit. Another two good brands are CWC and Marathon but MWC pan out better on price I recommend these two sites if you are keen on military watches http://military-watches.net/ and http://www.50717.com/

Interesting sites Airtran. So its safe to say that only Microsoft pilots wear Breitling?

Re: MWC field watches

Actually my colleague has a Breitling Emergency which looks excellent on a NATO strap. I think Breitling are well up there and they are rock solid and reliable.

I've go one of these up for grabs, as new, still in it's tin box on an olive band. Half original price.

Also 4 assorted nato style bands (RTL, Smart Turnout and Brooks) £20 the lot.

PM me if interested.

I apologize for posting here instead of the for sale thread.

Re: MWC field watches

Hi Macabee, saw your posting, how weird I don't understand where you are coming from; where are the MWC models below in the CWC range? I checked the CWC site and there is nothing like them.

Mechanical G10 http://www.militarywatchcompany.com/shop/shop.php?action=full&id=19

GG-W-113 - 1960s Pattern US Military Watch to Spec MIL-W-46374B http://www.militarywatchcompany.com/shop/shop.php?action=full&id=18

GTLS Diver http://www.militarywatchcompany.com/shop/shop.php?action=full&id=23

Swiss Piots Chrono http://www.militarywatchcompany.com/shop/shop.php?action=full&id=5

Pilots Chrono http://www.militarywatchcompany.com/shop/shop.php?action=full&id=4

As regards Eddie Platts at Time Factors I checked it out and the PRECISTA PRS-10 at http://timefactors.com/precista.htm looks like a pretty much exact copy of the CWC GS2000 at http://www.silvermans.co.uk/LargeImage.aspx?ImageName=~/Portals/0/productImages/33073-1.jpg that is not to say there is anything wrong with the Precista - in fact a friend owns one and it is fine - but how different does anyone expect a military watch to look when they are based on the same basic specs?

Re: MWC field watches

Oh man, I've got to have one of those Sewills - the Carmania, with 'Liverpool' on the face. There goes, the Speedmaster, any takers?

The Precista is also interesting, although obviously a Submariner clone.

Re: MWC field watches

^ Once again, my personal thanks to everyone for this great thread. I was first turned on to the aesthetic  style of military watches by Chris.H, but didn`t really look into it all beyond that.

I`ve opted for the Precista -PRS -10 in the end. (Thank you, Macabee...).

I `ve bought g10 straps in various, dull and versatile , regulation army size width straps of 16,18 and 20mm; in olive khaki green, light khaki, admiralty grey and navy; and i `ll buy  further leather g10 straps in brown and black.

I think that`ll cover ANYTHING i might want to wear a watch for.

The reasoning behind the different width straps is as follows: if i particularly wanted to put an accent on  elegant summer stuff i may want to wear a 16; 18 mm would probably be suitable for all occassions ; Not as keen on the bulky 20mm strap , but would probably wear this with a heavy peacoat, shetland rollneck, 501 STF`s and USMC boondockers.

You know the drill...!

...Thank you again, Macabee...
