Four halves including Twickenham Vanguard and Alton triplefff Ramble Tamble
Fresh bottle of Balvenie Doublewood. mmm mmmm.....
Something called a Scotland Yard.
Dewar's, Benedictine, lemon, cardamon syrup, basil.
Several Bombay Martini's last night. Oof.
Polished off the Matusalem rum at the office again.
As the aud$ goes down a bit (well compared to U$A not sure about GBP or EU) you'll be able to pick up the better oz wines a bit cheaper. Theres shed loads of them waiting to be shipped if the $aud goes down.
The possibility is always there. I usually avoid places with Cutty just to be safe.
Castello Banfi's 2010 Rosso di Montalcino. Castello Banfi make a Brunello, too, but it was not at the shop, and I tend to prefer the RdM anyway. This is very, very dry, which I love. A spicy, very peppery taste. At first opening there was sweet plum up front and spiciness at the end. After breathing it is more velvety, but still quite spicy. Terrific wine really, especially for those who like it dry. More cedar than oak, which I find unusual in a sangiovese. And unlike so many sangiovese based wines I like this just fine without food.
2006 Alain Jaume & Fils Domaine Grand Veneur Chateauneuf-du-Pape is a hell of a drug. My eyes are like saucers.
This is very heavy on tannins. Wood and smoke. I had to add some ice to cool it down. New York has become a rain forest of late.
Brentwood BBC2 ale - 2.5%. It was very good and did not taste like a weak beer. Also had Hopback Heracles @2.8%

Ealing beer festival in Walpole Park - excellent as usual.

Mimosa
Boddingtons in pint sized cans. Nowhere near as good as off the tap.
I'm thinking back to a July 4 - I spent in the suburbs of NYC at a family do - jugs and jugs and jugs of home made Pina Colada with shaved ice.
I wanted to ride intp Delft this evening and pick up some good wine from a trusted source, but riding a Brompton with a couple of bottles of wine and bags is no mean feat, plus I was tired after a busy week.....so instead, I went to Lidl and a half dozen bottles of Perlenbacher German beer. €3.69, the best deal in the Netherlands, so its cheap and cheery beer buzz for me tonight. I will try and keep of the whisky.
Pimms Number One Cup with Irn Bru to celebrate Andy Murray's Wimbledon Men's Singles title.
Manhattan with celery bitters instead of the classic angostura bitters. Recommended.
An Aglianico tonight, 2007 Casa Vinicola Michele Alois Taurasi Campole.
On opening plums and oakiness. After breathing this is a superbly dry wine with dark cherry overtones, smoky, and peppery. If one is looking for dry and drinkable this fits. Those who like complex wines need not apply. This is just for fans of dry non-fruity wines. I always find myself going back to Italian wines. Dry, not complex, and easily paired with a wide variety of other flavors...almost like holding up a mirror...
PS: Does not come out of a yellow t-shirt very easily, though.
2.5% means you can drink twice as much as if you were on wife beater all night. Brentwood is very good indeed. I have loved Welton's Pride & Joy for years but you only ever see it at beer festivals.
Session beer is 4% or under.
