Re: Altama...

altama manufactures mostly combat-style boots for police/military. i think theyre out of the south-georgia? as far as i know theyve been outsourced for awhile. the quality tends to be "issue-grade"-stiff leather, not incredibly comfortable looking. that said, i havent seen this style ever.

Below is a link to a collection of deadstock US footwear in Japan.

Lots of postal worker's shoes, workboots and hunting footwear. Also some beautiful camp-soled chukka boots and some Florsheim cordovans on the other pages: Kenmoor longwings and plaintoes, the Yuma in Royal Imperial grade and their mythical shell cordovan penny loafer.

Re: Altama...

Posties shoes in Japan?  I once saw a full American postman's uniform in the Red Cross shop down our main shopping street.  Why?  How?  In a small former textile town in the North Midlands (once home to Tootal).  This was, mind you, after two or three American suits had turned up in there; sized to fit Mister T.  There are more Yank women in the town than you can shake a stick at, so maybe that had something to do with it.  I once saw one wearing her old man's Paul Stuart cardigan.  Wouldn't sell.
