We're too hung up on Ivy.
The John Simons influence.
Ironic, as he evidently isn't.
He's a stylist.
Way to go.
Here's a thought: Time all of this all over the Net. grew beyond my fooling about.
Foundations are only there to be built on.
- So build!
My Best to All -
Always here,
Jim.
We always knew, reading between the lines, from the website, that there was more to John Simons - as opposed to J. Simons, if you catch my drift - than just Ivy. The Ivy style was a useful extension of modernism, but complexities lay behind it: one thing interacted with another in a way that other modernists have, at the very least, alluded to. Each time I flick through Flusser and see Fred Astaire I'm reminded of the site. Each time I see the references to Saville Row... The truly creative mind at work: nothing static.
