Sorry to start a new thread, there's much more interesting discussion on here elsewhere. However, picked up some new bleeding madras shorts (they say they are bleeding madras, anyway). Just wondering how I should wash them to get them to bleed and fade a little?
I was going to just handwash with standard washing stuff seperately in a basin.
Got hold of them from my brother, a nice navy and dusty gold type check. I'll post a picture when I have a camera handy if anyone is interested.
Cheers,
Colin
I wouldn't be too surprised if they don't co-operate. Kingstonian is talking about a different animal, I think. My 'vintage' Madras shirts have faded and softened nicely, but that's all.
Interesting to reflect that, if the stuff does bleed, the casual observer thinks what a pig's breakfast we're making of washing our stuff.
I picked up a pair of the NOS bleeding madras trousers from O'connells and they turned a sink full of water a deep purple. The only problem is one leg bled more than the other.

That's unfortunate. A problem not encountered with shirts.
