Pale blue shirt, navy knitwear. But there's at least a couple of shades that don't quite do it for me and I can't think why not. What is it about shades within a colour? I feel rather the same way about grey. I have a kind of 'gunmetal' London Fog which works well with a hint of faded yellow at the throat, but a sweatshirt that fails to excite me. Blue, though, is the colour I now feel most deeply about. What has brought me to this point? Is it some form of association with the music I love? Not necessarily the Blues (much as I adore Robert Johnson) but the Blues as interpreted by Parker, Davis, Coltrane and others.
There are certain other very Ivy Blues like 'Storm Blue' from LL Bean & 'Cadet Blue' - Shades alien to the mainstream UK on the whole...
Worth a look through the LL Bean catalogue just to see the colours employed by them - Very different to those in England... in a subtle way.
'Cabin Red' anybody?
