Faces of the 60s: Ian Hendry

On a 'Get Carter' theme at the moment (much as I'm indifferent to the film) and it reminds me of the late, great Ian Hendry, who played a very slimy villain who'd got it in for Michael Caine.  He was also in some cult 60s movies like 'Live Now, Pay Later' with the great June Ritchie and the pre-'Avengers' programme (which surely had to be better than that Swinging Sixties junk with McNee and Honor Blackman).

He always had that ridiculous haircut. Big sideburns and receding hairline brushed forward. Very late 60s.

Ian hendry was pissed while filming a lot of get carter, in particular the race course scene. You can tell caine is slightly bemused by it all with a little wry smirk on his face. That really led to him being known as a difficult drunk to work with and inevitably killed of his career somewhat.

The program he was on before the avengers was 'police surgeon', then the avengers itself where he was avenging the killing of his fiance and 'crimes against the people' macnee was his partner, pre honor blackman ala kathy gale. only a few episodes remian with just half of the fisrt.
