Another interesting phrase. Stylists instinctively work this out for themselves, by coolly noting what others are wearing and striving to avoid it. The old mod game of one-upmanship has become absurdly easy; specially for the likes of me, stuck up here, where only nebs and coffin dodgers wear Gant. Modern Gant, that is, out of the high street. Same with Lauren OTW. Footwear tends to define it, whether beef or cordo; the alien appearance is down at ground level - does one man still look at another's shoes to reach a decision about his social status?
I find it interesting that twenty years ago, "through the looking glass" would have been blue-penciled as a cliche. Then it sort of went away but now it's back after Mr. Burton's movie. It's interesting to me how, indeed, "everything that's old is new again."
As a way to go against the fashion grain, I've no idea.
Only in England, Quay? It's different; especially for the London Boys and their camp followers.
okay
It was , actually, the followers bit that i would have objected to.
