Anita O'Day's ghosted autobiography is well worth a read.  Never realised she'd injected so much junk into herself.  Looking at her, you'd think butter wouldn't melt.  But then, as you probably know, Hitchcock had a theory about blondes in the backs of taxis.  Wishful thinking on his part, no doubt, but it sounds as though Anita was a goer all right.  Some harrowing stuff about her multiple abortions.  Not mentioned that stuff to my wife who has strong views.
