Perhaps The Writing Is The Thing

Just isn't worth it sometimes.

I hope 'fuck right off you pompous pseud' isn't too flowery for you. I wouldn't want to upset someone with quite clearly, psychiatric problems.
Anyway ciao... x

It strikes me as humorous that someone who was "voted off" the forum themselves would try to tell someone else that they need to leave.

Not that I care too much. I think I was voted off myself.

Re: Perhaps The Writing Is The Thing

Sorry, was I voted off? Did I miss that particular ballot?
Quay was being very snotty in a pompous and patronising way about what goes on in this forum. He appears to think he is an intellectual 'cut above' us all. I just told him to use the door if it wasn't for him. He didn't even have the balls to leave his post up for all to see.
Anyway, I'm glad you find it humorous, redmanca. At least I try not to be dull like our (hopefully) departed friend, Mister Quay.

Also, if you don't think to tone of this whole forum is pompous and patronizing, you should try reading it from an American's perspective.

That vote you refer to, was purely for showbusiness/comedy effect. I was thrown off for being beastly much later.
I'm sure I would find your comments amusing old sausage, if I could understand them... I am but a humble northerner.

Re: Perhaps The Writing Is The Thing

... I like that J.Simons quote "Before all those who think they are right".

And that's the place that this forum comes from - Indeed it's the place where FNB comes from.

And it's very good for all the iExperts to have a dash of salt on their chips when they come here to visit. They may very well think that they are right, but an older wiser, world knows better - A world that they are very welcome to join.

Nobody has ever been voted off here - That was just a stunt. Mr. Beatnik went on holiday because he was just too big for the forum. TSC was equally to big for us.

Good to see you here, Connor. This place is just a space to be used. We talk about Ivy here. The style is what it is. It has no grand theories or lifestyles to offer. Others do all that. We just Talk Ivy.

And we've never been wrong about anything yet!  wink

Re: Perhaps The Writing Is The Thing

That's OK though. let them have 'Trad'.

Personally I like Traditional American style instead, maybe it's because I'm a Londoner?  wink

Re: Perhaps The Writing Is The Thing

Well... If he makes any claims to Tradition then he has to move beyond 'Trad' & 'The Curriculum'.

He could even become a force in the reformation of Trad from a pile of pants into the wonderful thing it ought to be. Others are active on that front. I think he'd be great as a real Traditionalist.

Then again there's nothing wrong with being a 'Trad'... They just have to know what they are & be happy in their place. Revisionists, not Traditionalists.

Meanwhile the OLD Brooks Andover Press crowd carry on as usual. They even publish books on their subject these days.

Re: Perhaps The Writing Is The Thing

But 'Trad' is the construct.    I know, I had a hand in constructing it!

What fun we all have in the Matrix!  wink
