Re: The Most Vile Garment Ever Devised

I don't mind the half-zip.

In no particular order:
- Patch shirts - whether gingham or madras.
- Fantasy Summer pants with little animals or what not.
- Fancy dress shirts with double collars or unconventional buttoning

Re: The Most Vile Garment Ever Devised

Evidently some sort of weird technical error occurred above.  Buggered if I know what it might have been.

Contrary to lies of FNB and Woofboxer, I (and most of the other "Buff Bastards") have been banned from posting on this forum. There are only a few posters left so don't waste your time on here. This forum is dead and nobody cares.

Of stuff that gets worn in the UK, half zips speak of acrylic and granddads and British Home Stores.

Barbour gets my vote though. Original wax jacket was the first offender and now they offer the quilted outdoor dressing gown.

I also agree about pirate trahseez.

Re: The Most Vile Garment Ever Devised

I don't generally like boat shoes, but I own a pair of white Sebago Docksides and have done for about three years.  They came from J.Simons.  I saw him wearing a pair around the shop.  My father has an excellent pair of Nunn Bush.  Maybe it depends how you wear them.

Personally, I detest anything airwair-ish.

Mesh sport shirts, football style.

Also, mesh caps.

Plimsoles. God how I had the dirty scruffy things, seen on all the trampish faux cool retro prep trendies of East London.

Re: The Most Vile Garment Ever Devised

I saw a suit at the thrift shop today. Sort of.

Green jacket, mostly, with a brown shoulder and another brown lower panel and a shawl lapel and brown pants. I didn't have time to really examine the thing, but it was pretty foul, as well as weird.

More to the point, I really object to sports jerseys with a player's name attached. If, for instance, David Wright of the New York Mets is injured, are they going to look in the stands and pick me to take over third base because I am vaguely athletic-looking and wearing a David Wright jersey?

Re: The Most Vile Garment Ever Devised

Strange that two of the items that my fellow "Ivyists" should most despise are plimsolls & docksides, both of which I wear more than any other shoe! As for me, the item I most despise is the jerkin or sleeveless jacket. Any wearers?
