How many on here would refuse to acknowledge that a filtering process has taken place? By this I mean, to some extent, our style is taken from the likes of Chet or The MJQ rather than directly from the Ivy campuses. Was this true for John Simons, for example? Of course, once the filtering process has begun, reference can be made back to the campuses in a more direct way. I used to love some of the images that filled the old John Simons website: that great advert for Plymouth coats for instance. This might be a very obvious point to make, but, well, I'm making it anyway. 'The Boom Years' thread is really what captured my imagination, even though I would not want to wear some of those clothes. But the jazz connection kicked in for me well before that.
