I'll def hit you up and perhaps we can meet in town! Would be nice to meet Jim as well if he's up for it
very rarely wear a harrington at the moment, never with weejuns - mainly to distance myself from the plastic mod types and indie kids. Granted this was once me. Get the balance between classic, cliché and subtle is an art, sometimes - one, I add, I have not got yet.
When a look becomes a classic look, it becomes popular.
When it becomes popular, it becomes a caricature.
But it's still a classic look.
So ignore the self-concious and frail ego, and adorn a classic look.
Well said Mister Trojan.
i'll bloody wear my natural or maroon g9 with white, blue or uni stripe ocbd, 501s and weejuns or sebagos if i bloody like. don't give fuck if it's ubiquitous / caricature / whatever. ain't that common in my neck of woods anyway.
Have you been on that fiery Finnish cognac again, heikki? It's only a notion of mine, y'know.
Go Heikki, let's storm the Castle of Ivy!
Sometimes it just kind of falls together like that and hey presto you're out there in a Harry and loafers. Like those dreams of walking around without your trousers.
My objection nowadays is to a Harrington per se. Not - some - types of loafer.
Picture the scene - I'm wearing some Levi's, say, and also have on a pair of Weejuns - I neen to go out (perhaps to buy a packet of peas from the supermarket, or maybe some milk - but that's not really important). It is not warm out, there may even be a light drizzle -I need a coat, or light jacket - I pick up a G9, of which I have many to hand........... You get me?
yes, very much.
ocbd, jeans, weejuns, g9, my standard grocery store wear!
i never spot anyone wearing the same set in the supermarket i get my daily munch from.

So it's not just a cliché, it's a supermarket cliché.
None of this is to be taken with anything other than a bucket of salt, of course.
"You mean I'm here to amuse you? I'm here to amuse you?"
Weejuns are pretty deadly slidey on most supermarket floors round here. I'd go for a pair of dessies instead. They offer a bit more protection against trolley attacks from behind too.
