'Talk Ivy'

Big Tony was right.  I did dilute the contents of the forum.

However.

Anyone who is thinking of coming here from MC or elsewhere should expect a decent welcome.  They will not necessarily find everything to their taste.  This is not, as it may seem to some, the dedicated John Simons Fan Club Site, but the movers and shakers do tend to have an admiration for the man that may seem, at times, to be overdone.  That ain't going to change, folks, so you'd better get used to the idea.

'What is all this nonsense about skinheads?'  Remember that?  Whatever they think they are, they're not Ivy League dressers.

No-one in their right mind would take any notice of my ravings anyway.

Enjoy yourselves.

Re: 'Talk Ivy'

It looks as though we're losing a few people.  I already miss the brilliant Quay.  Trojan wasn't around long enough, I don't think, to get a real feel for 'TI', with its very - inevitably - 'American' slant.  Not sure whether Beatnik's Ghost will stick with us or not.  He seems easily riled sometimes by the Johnny Simons stuff - which is certain to snowball with the opening of the new shop.  When he's on form, though, he's a great satirist.

Re: 'Talk Ivy'

Mm...  true enough...  Quay wrote a highly entertaining and instructive piece on the development of Ralph Lauren.  He brought a lot more to the table, too.  In fact, I missed him sooner than yesterday.  The Beatnik's tone was a bit negative.

Re: 'Talk Ivy'

Quay was not a prolific poster, but when he did post, it was profound.

As Alex states, the RL piece was a revelation, a man in the know. Kudos.

Those of you who were around one Saturday afternoon not so long ago may have seen some of the postings that became too hot and all kind of moderators got involved. That was between the original Beatnik and myself.

Anyway, the reason he is here and not over there is obvious, because we are all Kerouac and jazz fans, except, Horace, he can't stand the Beats.

Beatniks tactics remind me of Bernie Rhodes managing The Clash. If he can get us an acceptable well paying gig, all will be forgiven.

Re: 'Talk Ivy'

Quay was interesting in that he seemed to save his best posting for this forum. I had misjudged his online persona based on his insipid posting elsewhere. All though it was possibly a knee-jerk reaction, on my part, against any one who posted on the Ask Andy Interchange.

Re: 'Talk Ivy'

I'm sort of angling to lure Quay back.

And AQG, dunno' what happened there.  Well, I do know, Chenners bullied him into only posting for the Dandy highwaymen. Allegedly.

Re: 'Talk Ivy'

Yes, AQG was good, too.  Are these 'dandy highwaymen' anything to do with Adam Ant, then?

Re: 'Talk Ivy'

Yes, he had certain flair about him.

Well, Chenners is the original Dandy highwayman, out to hold up the Ivy league coach of all its booty. I dunno' who his side kick is, yes I do know, its Switfnick Boyers!

None of it matters anyways. We are all Rip's Sock Puppets, except for me, i am Horace's Sock Puppet. The forum is basically a violent spat between Rip's multiple personalities.
