Those old bugs bunny cartoons had some great music soundtracks. It introduced generations to the great classics, and for that l am entirely greatful. And yes, when l hear some music l can't help but think of the old cartoons. Rossini was another cartoon favourite.

Re: What Music Are You Listening to at the Moment...[AKA the Music thread]

David Fanshawe , African Sanctus. On the good big sysftem and speakers. Must be at least 10 years since I last listened. I think I remember I used to like it. Possibly one of the first "world music" albums I had.

Its much more uneven and at times uninteresting than I remember. I've already skipped a bunch of track with remote, lying back in my faux modernist leather recliner listening/ reading chair with footstool. I know I've become more sophisticated and knowledgeable in listening, but I must say its not just me, the record, well CD, isn't all that great. Even production wise. Still maybe in the context of the times, 1973, maybe. Now it sounds like what ever the African version of orientalism is?.

And I speak as a bloke very familiar with the sung mass.

Times, and things change. Don't they.

Things fall apart. The centre cannot hold.

I skipped and jumped my way through. Now I'm on a 2 CD set of Gregorian chants. Good old Kyrie's and Sanctus's. The contrast is great.

Fanshawe did the music to Flambards, a TV adaptation I remember from my youth.

Won't be able to get the bloody theme music out of my head now...like the bloody Mahna Mahna song from the Muppets...

Now I'm listening to Kurt Rosenwinkel Live at the Village Vanguard on jazz statioin digital radio through the system.. Sounds OK but perhaps not my thing for another hour. Took much noodling guitar hero fast for my tastes.

Eating bullets. They don't make em like they useta though. I'm sure they were thinner, the chocolate had werinkles and the licorice was thinner.

Oh, that sounds nice.  You're probably a little toasty by now too aren't you?

Listening to Opus in MP3 format is not nearly as invigorating as hearing the mono vinyl blasting.
