I shall stick to talking about what I know about - GREAT BD collar rolls on Fred!
I only have very vague ideas about what Drape is or isn't, but I must say that I dislike seeing clothes cut too tightly much more than object to Drape. I see more and more people with very tailored 'pinched in' looking suits which look as though they have outgrown them.
Not a good look to my bloodshot eyes.

Speaking with my tailor who made a lot of suits and patterns for Flusser's business it seems that the only designer who has liked drape in recent times was Flusser. He liked it in the 80s and had a a hard time selling it when powerful shoulders were in. According to Mr. Corvato, it is a terrible look for suits, and depending on a man's build the drape can either be sloppy or comic.
It is not a particularly English look either. Anderson sells mostly to Ex-Pats who, ironically, think they are getting an English look.

Ooops, a correction to my previous post: the Duke patronized both Scholte and Davies & Son at the same time, continuing with the latter when the former sold out (to James & James, and thence to Davies & Son).

Regarding the drape suit: I suspect Scholte may have created the first "modern" suits as we know them today, which shook up Savile Row and led to countless imitators and the "London cut" suit. The Duke of Windsor's early jackets, which we must assume were a product of Scholte or at least inspired by him, do not resemble in any way (that I can see) the modern version of the drape suit as envisioned by A&S, or Flusser, etc. I suspect therefore that the Scholte silhouette and the modern drape suit are quite different things, despite all the hoopla. It wouldn't be the first time that misinterpretations of history have been made and mistakenly repeated down the years.
