Nice pictures, thanks for posting.
While the timetable might not be precise, my shirtmaker, Mimmo Siviglia, is not a myth and was a leading Italian tailor and designer in an earlier life and there are several items in this thread highlighting his career...

Interesting post!
Ignorance is the mother of myths... there's an endless supply on Style Forum and London Lounge, in particular, about "Neapolitan" and "Roman" tailoring.
Here are The Shadows in Italian style suits

There are a lot of myths, inappropriate yet clever marketing on Italian style, its good to see that Mr Carpu is addressing and exposing these from the position of an expert. And what is revealed is even more interesting than the myth.
Makes sense to me. I had always heard when I worked in mens wear (a long time ago) that Italian clothing worn by Italians was not styled like what they made for export. I had no direct knowledge of that, but these pictures tell the story.
that picture from the 1952 fashion show in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence is gone, but there's another one here:

I was searching on the net for bum freezers and this popped up. Seems worth a bump.
Indeed. I missed this completely. Thanks for bumping FXH.
Italy was in a golden period in the 50s and early 60s, sadly to be followed by the years of lead.
It all seems to go wrong after the mid-60s in so many places.
