Rise is 11.5 on a 34 as far as I remember

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

The guy in the Soho shop told me not to buy a bigger waist size, sound advice as it turned out. Lost a bit in length but nothing in the waist.

Henry

To avoid blow out I wash the jeans inside out and then I put them in the dryer (inside out) in medium for no more than 10 minutes and then I hang dry. This is good for the denim as it reduces the fabric stiffness that causes tears.

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

I've tried pretty every technique with rigid over the years but would agree with GW ... don't think you have to go up a size - especially if you stand in the shower in them first off...you can keep pulling out the waist etc as you're getting damp... and so keep wait shrinkage minimal...you will always lose a fair whack on the length of course..

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

When I put on my freshly laundered rigid jeans, I just do about 5 deep knee bends to loosen everything up.  Seems like they stretch over the course of the first wear, and by the next time I put them on, things are feeling good.

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

Anybody else on here a fan of the non-selvedge, rigid 501 shrink to fits?

Picked up a pair for around 30 quid all in and got them tapered down to 7.5". They're about 13.5oz I think and whilst they don't hold a candle to lee 101z, I think I prefer them over the wrangler 13MWZ. Levi's don't compliment the back-side very much though...

^

I used to wear those all the time. It seemed like the last few pair I bought were lower rise. Same thing that happened to the rigid 505s I used to like.

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

The Pike Brothers stuff is really nice, not all to my taste but construction and fabric is excellent.
Mine were a gift from a Swedish friend who didn't like them.

JS and Crazy Man Crazy (http://www.crazymancrazylondon.co.uk) and American Classics had the 50s and 40s cut but not the 60s.

Too many options that cost too much money.  This is causing me anxiety.

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

How does the Lee 101 z compare to the LVC 505s?

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

Captain -

Wow -you know a lot about LVC's. The 1901's sound interesting indeed. Have you tried any of their new corduroy pants? What would be a good recommendation for cords with high rise and tapered leg?

Three years ago I got these German hilt cords at lansky's in Memphis for $50 and they were perfect but I never see them on sale again. Have Levi's or anyone else got anything good out there?

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

Senor - I wouldn't say I know that much really..it's just that whatever style I've been into over the years has always centred around jeans for me, and I can only assume I've stuck with Levi's pretty much due to my little Mod aesthetic from 1979, ha ha...
Only other non Levi's I've ever had are Carhartt & Ben Davis when I was workwear crazy in the 90s... and maybe some Dickies come to think of it...?

Have a couple of the LVC sta prest cords from a few years back...a really good high rise but a bit snug on those darn calves for me again!
Acton mentioned their current batch I think being sold as 1970s Bedford cords(?) which may tick yer boxes?
And if you can get yer hands on the older Bedford pants they reissued, then they really are a great 60s fit I think..and no problems for even Calf Man here!!

And WM - yeah...you're right..all very pricey.. I've very rarely bought much at full price over the years and just make sure I'm in there sharpish at sale time!

I always get my lee's tapered down to 7.5" at the hem too. Then they're just perfect.
