Always liked those ripple soles that kid in the Mods book is wearing - does any one know who made such shoes? Also, I'd kill for a wash and wear suit like that - never had any luck finding one in my size. An olive grey would be perfect......
I know the american brand yuketan produce a couple of styles with similar soles. Not a fan of it personally, but wouldn't mind seeing some more examples.
I can't find any pictures of these yuketan I'm yapping about. Nor can I find any reference to the Pod's I wore at school that I think had this style of sole. I seem to remember they were terrible for getting stones stuck in the ribs.
The aussie company, "rossi" made a ripple sole db in the fifties. They still make them, though IMO, they have an ugly shape.

Rossi DBs.
I've got an old pair of the Shearer's Boots on that page from when I was on the farm.
Ripple Soles and any cleated soles are buggers, I've got rid of all mine. Sick of stepping in dogshit and mud and chewing gum and bringing it inside or having to clean it.
Yeah, none of those are are really doing for me - the 60's ones look less exagerated - and the uppers look far more stylish.
the pair in post #9 is probably closest to what Chris was looking for.... maybe in a nice brown leather?
Post 9. Fracaps were found at Rakuten. Can't find any info to say where to buy now but not available there.
You will find what you want on a Japanese site though. You just need a good translation tool and the patience to plum the depths of the deep dark web.

My gran wears something similar, I think.
I joke of course. I wouldn't wear them but they have a certain Paraboot on Prozac charm. That name 'deerslayer' doesn't seem to fit somehow. 'Old dear slayer' perhaps, as I can imagine an old woman wearing these on an icy morning and going arse over tit down her front steps.
Haha But you know I'll just keep re-posting them on other threads until one of yous says something nice about these beauties...
And then I'll do the same over on modcult.
You would be run out of Modculture if you posted them. If you're feeling really bold take them over to UKSkinheads and claim they are what original skinheads wore.
I think it's just the colour, they seem too beige to be real mens shoes. But what do I know, I was wearing scholl continental's today. They are so girly I have to be careful where I wear them. I've had verbal abuse over those shoes.

I do. Thanks for sorting that out for me.
I'm playing devils advocate here, posting photo's to get discussion going. Personally I think every pair posted so far is hideous.
Are these soles an old design? I know they have been around in hiking boots since the 80's at least but in everyday shoes were they popular before then... or did they only crop up occasionally?
Seem to be another post ww2 thing, probably came out of the Pacific jungles and worn by the returned servicemen when they were demobbed
I have to agree. I had to save hard to buy a pair of Kickers back in 1976. You had to get them from 'His N' Hers', a shop in Derby's trendy Sadler Gate John Simons once asked me about. I remember that guy from 'Red Or Dead' rubbishing them on the telly. They turn up sometimes in the more 'hip' Oxfam clothes shops - and, boy, do they deserve them. They're like wearing jumpers with snow-flakes or reindeer on them.
We all wanted those ones when they were in Barnes's book.
They seemed nicely delicate for a cleated shoe, a bit fey in a rather lovely way...!
