It certainly looked like a great evening. I couldn't stay, I just passed through to procure a copy.
A handsome book.
Major props to GG for that suit. Is it a gun check tweed?
Also what is the make of the suit that Guy is wearing? Vintage?
Those observant fellows amongst us, will notice in the foreground of the photo with Guy, one alias DerekG and his infamous three coloured shoes, he was obviously there looking to give anyone from this forum a damn good thrashing for daring to ridicule his shoes.
Where are the youngsters? We need to be getting the young chaps into the style.
The photos remind me of the ones seen on Japanese blogs about ivy get togethers over there, they also remind me of the 80s mod scene (the better end I hasten to add). Looks like a good night.
A hybrid really, and without the violence.
Do I see women Ivyists in the bottom picture?
They're as rare as women enthusiasts of Dungeons & Dragons!
^Ha! In my experience that will be a photo of someone's "significant other" standing outside looking at their watch and tut tutting while bemoaning the fact that their partner is spending far too long looking at 'old man's clothes'. Well that's my experience any way. Maybe we should have a caption contest?

Oh to have been there and not in bed !
There's Mr. Mark Collins in some fantastic vintage (Smoking Cat!) Walkover Saddle Bucks !
There's Becky & her Giles !
There's 'andsome Paulie & isn't that The Guv'nor's back?
GG & GM looking fantastic along with Mr. Guy Barley...
Jason Jules was in later & then gave me a buzz to see what was up & Paulie sent an email.
/\ A REAL community of style that I'm very proud to be a small part of.
Best -
Jim
Profound thanks to Mr. Woofboxer for the pics.
Given the time, strength & energy am I OK to upload them to the official JS Facebook & JS Events Group pages? You will be fully credited.
I didn't think much of the green 3-piece when I saw it for sale at JS but it looks good on young Paul. Maybe I'll nip into Chiltern St. and give myself a second opinion.
A big congratulations to all involved. A really lovely book and a great night.
Paul and John such humble gracious hosts.
Graham Marsh - A gentleman. I forgot to take your email address.
John Gaul - Looking supremely good. Such a nice man. I was the chap awkwardly congratulating you on your
rather good Herb Lester article.
So many others. All friendly.
It looked like a nice, jolly, informal evening. Only sorry I couldn't be there. I've probably offended virtually everyone present at some time or other, so they might well have been lining up to give me a tap on the nose. John Gaul richly deserves his success, after all these years of staunchly keeping the flame burning, and that Tuscan villa will be his one of these fine days. Only espresso after about eleven in the morning, though, eh, John? Please keep up the good work with Herb Lester: most enjoyable!
And, as I never tire of saying, RS only ever echoed GG's 'Macchiato Man' & Mr. Mark Collin's 'Hubert Swaine'. True originators the pair of them.
Paul Simons looks very cool in his suit, blue button down and knitted tie.
Mr Gaul gets my vote, even if it is a shot of the back of his head!
As for getting the young in, people have to realise that for a young chap to get away with the style, you have to go close fitted, then as you age like a good bottle of wine you can let things out a bit.
