Re: 'Hollywood and The Ivy Look' book launch.

As far as I'm concerned he can have all the clicks he gets. There are some very worthwhile posts there, all interviews where he lets others talk. I wish he'd stuck to that because he did that rather well.

It's when you get all this padding about Muppets, wallets and whatever topped off with pedantic boorishness the problem starts. And then, I agree with so many others, he comes across as a top gobshite.

I'm not sure, though, whether he was actually born, hatched from an egg, or his father wanked off over a spoon and warmed it over the flame of a candle.

I agree there are posts of some worth there, but what gets my goat is his spiteful attacks on completely innocent persons......As we all know this because he is utterly frustrated in his attempts to get at his 'bete noir'.....

Back to reality, my contacts from my various old jobs in publishing report great things already of HATIL.
TIL has also done great business & continues to do so.

Reality seems to know its business.

Never mind The Bloggocks.

Jim, in his various guises, has made more comebacks than Frank Sinatra.  More, in fact, than my own sweet self.

Do you mean your leaving the boards Jim? Focusing on the other sides of the Ivy game?

I'll still Mod here for FNB. 'Russell' is already written by a far better man than me. I've that 'invite only' project with Hard Bop Hank to get off the ground. I've 'Smoking Cat' Vintage to flog and the bits of Ivy consultancy I do for the rag trade. PLUS I have to fit in three naps a day.  I'm busy enough !

Doing more for JS remains top of the list though.  Repaying that old debt of mine.

I know I'm a bit late on this but I had the chance to look through my new copy last night ... what a great book, some brilliant shots and a real inspiration. One thing that I noticed straight away ... hardly any denim ... a few pairs of jeans but all of the cream/white/beige variety

^You say hardly any denim, like that's a bad thing?

No, not a bad thing at all .... far too much denim worn in my opinion. The alternative of chino's or coloured 5 pockets and cords are much more 'Ivy' in my view.

I agree with Hill Rise, pretty much, but I'm still having the devil of a time trying to find some decent chinos.  I'm still wearing the Levis chinos I bought several years ago, and would love another pair.  Let's face it, lots of denim is undistinguished.  Even my grandmother wore it.

Denim to me, in most instances, is symbolic of baby-boomer rock. And I say that, as most definitely a bad thing.

The atmosphere was a bit special last night. Sure, the bond is the superficial one of clothes, but this allows us all to come together and smile and enjoy each other's company.

Agreed it was fun on here last night. It's no way to carry on with the forum I suppose but it certainly made me laugh and all seems fairly normal again today.

Re: 'Hollywood and The Ivy Look' book launch.

I see an actress, who is probably far better known now than she has been before, has made allegations against Dustin Hoffman. Apparently it was only 33 years ago when, according to her, he groped her titties while they were working on a Broadway production. This was said to have taken place in front of the other cast members, but they were all busy tieing their shoelaces at the time and didn't see anything, either that or it didn't happen like she says it did.

Oh well, there's a couple more pages I'll have to rip out of Hollywood and the Ivy Look, soon there'll be nothing left of the book!

Only joking - it's a great reference/coffee table book.

The most shocking aspect of the story for me was the realisation that poor old Dustin is 80!
